Beaumont, CA – 2 Drivers Hurt in Car Accident on Hwy 79 Near County Landfill Rd

Beaumont, CA (February 3, 2026) – Two drivers suffered injuries on Monday, February 2, after a car accident sparked a fire on Highway 79 south of Beaumont. The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on the northbound side near County Landfill Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said one vehicle slammed into the rear of another. The cars stopped in the No. 2 lane of the four-lane highway. Fire crews arrived within minutes and found flames burning in the engine area of the vehicle that caused the impact. Both drivers escaped before the fire spread further.

Crews quickly knocked down the flames. One motorist suffered moderate injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries. Paramedics took both victims to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment. 

Authorities continue investigating what caused the crash.
