Carlsbad, CA (August 10, 2025) – One person was killed early Saturday morning, August 9, in a suspected DUI crash at the intersection of La Costa Avenue and Piraeus Street, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
Police said the collision occurred around 5:20 a.m. when a Subaru crossover and a Nissan pickup truck collided. The driver of the Nissan was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Their identity has not yet been released.
Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, and officers say they apprehended the driver of the Subaru following the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Traffic Accident Investigator Officer Ricardo Huerta.
