San Diego, CA (January 2, 2026) – A head-on collision in San Diego’s Mountain View neighborhood left three people seriously injured on Thursday, January 1, including one man with life-threatening injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The crash occurred on the 3800 block of Ocean View Boulevard. Police reported that a thirty-three-year-old man drove a Volkswagen Passat westbound before crossing into the eastbound lane.
His vehicle struck a Kia Soul head-on. A sixty-one-year-old woman drove the Kia, and a sixty-three-year-old woman rode as her passenger. The passenger suffered a broken femur, while the driver sustained a leg injury.
Paramedics transported all three victims to area hospitals. Doctors listed the Volkswagen driver with internal injuries considered life-threatening.
Investigators stated that alcohol played a role, and the SDPD Traffic Division continues the investigation.
