Los Angeles, CA (February 9, 2024) – At least one person was found dead during a search and rescue following a large fire that consumed a commercial building, according to initial information from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The LAFD was dispatched at 1:15 a.m. on Friday to the 800 block of East Manchester Avenue in the Green Meadows neighborhood within South Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they found a one-story commercial building well involved in flames, with heavy fire showing through the roof.
After around 10 minutes into battling the blaze, the structure became compromised with flames through the roof. At that point, firefighters backed out of the fire. After eventually extinguishing the flames, the search and rescue discovered the deceased victim. Investigators continue their inquiry into the cause of the fire.
