Canyon County, CA (August 16, 2024) – Authorities say that Alberto Hernandez, 21, of Santa Clarita, has been identified as the person killed in a crash last week between a Burrtec trash truck and a Honda sedan.
At about 7:50 a.m. on Friday, August 16, emergency responders received reports of a traffic collision on the 17900 block of Soledad Canyon Road near Galeton Avenue in Canyon Country, according to Kaitlyn Aldana, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD). Witnesses at the scene reported that a car with at least two occupants had become partially lodged beneath a trash truck.
One other person was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. The status of this person is unknown as of Thursday. Hernandez was declared dead at the scene. However, the cause of the crash remains unavailable as authorities continue investigating the incident. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
