San Diego, CA – 24-Year-Old Driver Seriously Injured in Crash at Dayton St & El Cajon Blvd

San Diego, CA (October 19, 2025) – A 24-year-old driver sustained serious injuries on Friday, October 17, in a two-vehicle collision at Dayton Street and El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. when an eastbound Tesla Model Y made a left turn with a green light, entering the path of a westbound Honda Civic. The vehicles collided violently in the intersection, leaving both heavily damaged.

Paramedics responded immediately and transported the Honda driver to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Doctors said he suffered a fractured left femur and a lacerated liver. Police confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash.

Detectives are gathering evidence and reviewing nearby surveillance footage to determine what led to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
