San Diego, CA (August 19, 2025) – An elderly man was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street on Monday evening, August 18, near Balboa Park.
The 92-year-old man was walking east in a crosswalk at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Grape Street just before 8:00 p.m. when he was struck by a 2020 Honda Accord sedan, San Diego police said. The sedan, driven by a 78-year-old woman, was headed south on 6th Avenue at the time.
The man was left with a life-threatening bruise to his brain following the collision, according to police. Driving under the influence has been ruled out as a factor in the crash. Meanwhile, the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division responded and is continuing to investigate the incident.
We hope the injured individual makes a timely recovery.
