San Diego, CA (July 2, 2026) – A wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision on Interstate 8 on Wednesday morning, July 1, and consequently left multiple people with major injuries.
Police attempted to stop a Mercedes SUV that then entered I-8 traveling the wrong direction and collided head-on with a Honda Odyssey. The elderly Honda driver and the Mercedes passenger were both hurt. The Mercedes driver fled on foot before being detained and taken to the hospital.
The investigation remains active.
