San Diego, CA (September 20, 2023) – After receiving reports of a head-on accident on State Route 76 at Pala Mission Road, CHP officers arrived on the scene.
A Vista man was traveling east on SR-76 near Pala Mission Road at about midnight on Wednesday, September 20. Meanwhile, another man was driving a white Toyota Rav-4 in the westbound lanes of SR-76 when the two drivers collided.
Caltrans, San Diego County Sheriffs, and emergency medical services personnel all arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. A 59-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was also declared dead at the site, while the Nissan’s driver suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time, and it’s unclear if citations or charges will be filed.
