Los Angeles, CA (November 19, 2023) – An investigation into a probable drunk driving incident involving three vehicles in Oceanside on Friday night resulted in the deaths of two people.
The Oceanside Police Department reports that the collision occurred at around 7:30 p.m., close to the junction of SR-76 and Canyon Drive. An eastbound U-Haul utility truck collided with a gray Mercedes car traveling north on Canyon Drive after the truck driver allegedly failed to stop at a red light. After the first collision, both vehicles careened into a white Kia sedan waiting in the left turn lane of westbound SR-76. The two individuals in the Mercedes were declared dead at the scene, per the police. After sustaining minor injuries, the drivers of the U-Haul and Kia were discharged from the hospital. Oceanside police were conducting collision investigations, which caused Canyon Drive to be blocked between Eagles Crossing and SR-76.
