Irvine, CA (January 9, 2024) – A hit-and-run driver crashed into a house in the Irvine area on Monday night, setting it on fire.
At around 9:30 p.m., firefighters arrived at the scene of a two-story residence in the 3800 block of Hamilton Street after the wreck and subsequent blaze. Following the containment of the fire to the first level, search operations for possible casualties began, according to a post by the Orange County Fire Authority. At least two people were assessed at the scene, though their current conditions are unknown. The Irvine Police Department is now seeking the suspect in connection with the wreck, and an investigation is ongoing.
