Bakersfield, CA (September 16, 2023) – Reports surfaced early Saturday morning of a fire destroying part of a building and causing possibly serious victim injuries in northeast Bakersfield.
At around 2:20 a.m. in the morning, a fire was reported at 718 Knotts Street. The smoke and flames were rising from the top of the building, per local news footage, while several fire departments rushed to the area.
It is unclear what started the fire, and officials did not say how many people were inside or around the area. EMTs were also spotted at the scene, though authorities have not provided specifics on the number of injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being handled by officers with the Bakersfield PD, in conjunction with fire rescue squads.
